USA had more shots than Colombia, but the Colombians had slightly better ball possession. Colombian striker Carlos Bacca scored a goal guarded by Tim Howard just after the half an hour mark as Los Cafeteros were 1–0 up at half time.

Two players — one of each team — were sent off. Michael Orozco of USA was booked in the 88th minute and later sent off. Colombian Santiago Arias collected two yellow cards in two minutes and was sent off along with Orozco.

Goalkeeper David Ospina won the Man of the Match award making two saves and two clearances.

Al-Qaeda linked Al Shabab militants attacked a hotel in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu. This has killed 15 people which includes a minister. Four of the attackers were also killed in this incident. A senior police officer Captain Mohammad Hussain said B. Mohammed Hamza, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office is amongst the dead, his body has been taken out from the hotel.

However, police and hospital sources said at least 34 people were injured in the attack. Initially, a suicide bomb in a car packed with explosives had attacked outside the building. Gunmen then stormed the hotel and the attack continued for several hours. Al-Shabab claimed responsibility for the attack through telegrams, smartphone etc. It started in early June in the holy month of Ramadan, this is the second attack on the hotel.

Several Western Countries including United States of America are amongst the biggest donor to the government in Somalia. These countries have been providing aid for Somaila’s stability and security as it prepares for parliamentary and presidential elections this year. An official statement by U.S. State Department has officially condemned this act.
