Serena Williams is the defending Ladies’ champion, after beating her sister Venus in 2009, turning the tables on her sister who won in 2008.

The Women’s singles Wimbledon tennis title has been won by Serena Williams after she beat her older sister Venus Williams 7–6 (3), 6–2 in Wimbledon, London Borough of Merton, Great Britain, on Saturday, July 4, 2009.
