Strong rains in Brazil leave at least 21 dead

In the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil, a rainstorm occurred in the metropolitan area leaving at least 21 dead, eleven people missing in Mairipora, several injured and several flooded areas, according to information from local sources.

It was reported in initially by firefighters in Mairipora had five deaths, but after a couple of hours finally that amount was reduced to only four deaths. It was also reported in the town eight people were missing.

Eleven people died due to a landslide in Francisco Morato and also two other people died in the town of Cajamar, while Guarulhos airport that area had to be closed for at least six hours due to temporary and railway stations and trains also had to temporarily suspend their service.

Brazilian authorities said, and advise people living in areas at risk to make abandonment of their homes because of the risk of new landslides caused by rains in the coming days in Sao Paulo.
